The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (RQF) qualification is regulated by Ofqual on the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) and accredited through our Awarding Organisation, Training Qualifications UK (TQUK). This qualification is undertaken online through our easy-to-use Online Qualification System.
Qualification Information
This qualification is suitable for anyone who wishes to develop the knowledge and skills to enable them to perform the role of a Lead Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) within a training provider, school, college, or End -Point Assessment organisation.
The qualification is equivalent to the D34/35 and V1 Award. Former internal quality assurance qualifications.
Duration of the qualification
You will have up to one year to complete the qualification, although most learners complete it with Educating UK within four months. Some learners may complete within a shorter time frame.
Content of the Qualification
The qualification covers three units:
Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
Unit 2: Internally assure the quality of assessment
Unit 3: Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility
A range of topics are covered within the two units including the function and principles of IQA, the roles and responsibilities of a Leading IQA, legislation and regulations relevant to internal quality assurance, planning and leading on IQA and sampling techniques, giving feedback, leading standardisation, dealing with disputes in IQA and assessment and reflective practice and CPD.
Qualification Assessment Activities
The qualification is assessed through the completion assignments, observation, expert witness testimony and evidence gathered when undertaking lead internal quality assurance activities. You are expected to evidence wider reading and include references in your work.
Qualification Requirements
You must have access to work with two assessors, who in turn each have two of their own learners. You must plan and undertake IQA sampling on the four learners, across the two assessors.
You must work with one or more IQAs who you are able to ‘Lead’, plan and allocate work to.
You are also required to take lead a standardisation meeting with other IQAs.
You will also have access to an Expert Witness who can undertake an observation of you. Your Expert Witness can be your line manager or another colleague who is a qualified IQA. They must be able to confirm that they have an IQA qualification, such as D34 or V1 Award, or this qualification.

– You must be occupationally competent in your specialist area and be able to meet the Qualification Requirements, outlined above.
– Have reading, writing and communication skills adequate to meet the requirements of the qualification and be able to complete the written assessments to a good standard.
