The Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF) qualification is regulated by Ofqual on the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) and accredited through our Awarding Organisation, Training Qualifications UK (TQUK). This qualification is undertaken online through our easy-to-use Online Qualification System.

Qualification Information
This qualification is for anyone who wants to achieve a recognised qualification in the role of a Teaching Assistant. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the role of a teaching assistant, classroom assistant or support worker, in a school, college or training provider environment. You may already be working as a teaching assistant or wish to work as a teaching assistant. There is no requirement to be working in the role of a teaching assistant to achieve this qualification.

Duration of the Qualification
You will have up to one year to complete the qualification, although most learners complete it with Educating UK within two to three months. Some learners may complete within a shorter time frame.

Content of the Qualification

The qualification covers four units:

Unit 1 – Understand child and young person development

Unit 2 – Understand how to Safeguard the Well-being of Children and Young People

Unit 3 – Communication and Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults

Unit 4 – Schools as Organisations

A range of topics are covered within the four units including the role of a teaching assistant, legislation relating to teaching and teaching assistants, types of school environments, stages of development, safeguarding, communicating in the TA role, working with external agencies,

Qualification Assessment Activities
The qualification is assessed through the completion of a number of worksheets.

Qualification Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this qualification. You do not need to be volunteering or working in the role of a Teaching Assistant in order to achieve this qualification.

You must:
