This qualification is regulated by TQUK and undertaken online. It develops the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable learners to lead a team of internal quality assurers. (IQAs).
The qualification comprises of three units ‘Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment’, ‘Internally assure the quality of assessment’ and ‘Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility’.
In order to achieve this qualification learners must work with two assessors who both have two learners each. In other words, the trainee IQA (learner) must internally quality assure four pieces of learner evidence, across the two assessors. Learners must also lead IQA activities in their provider, working with at least one or more IQAs.
Duration of the qualification
There is no set time frame for completion. Most learners complete the qualification within three to four months. Learners may complete within a few weeks.
Content of the Qualification
The qualification covers a range of topics including the role of an IQA, standardisation, sampling, and legislation relating to IQA and how to plan for and lead a team of IQAs.
Qualification Assessment Activities
Assessment activities include the completion of a number of assignments, observations, expert witness testimony and evidence gathered when undertaking internal quality assurance activities. Learners are expected to evidence wider reading and include references in their work.
Learners must be occupationally competent in their specialist area and have access to work with two assessor or tutors who are working with two learners each (four leaners altogether). Learners must also have one or more IQAs to ‘lead’.
