The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF) qualification is regulated by Ofqual on the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) and accredited through our Awarding Organisation, Training Qualifications UK (TQUK). This qualification is undertaken online through our easy-to-use Online Qualification System.

Qualification Information
This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to perform the role of an assessor, assessing both competence in the work environment and vocational achievement. It is suitable for anyone who is, or wishes to be, a full time assessor, teacher, or tutor in any sector or industry.

This qualification is equivalent to the former assessing qualifications D32/33 and A1 Award.

Duration of the Qualification
You will have up to one year to complete the qualification, although most learners complete it with Educating UK within five to six months. Some learners may complete within a shorter time frame.

Content of the Qualification
The qualification covers three units:

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

Unit 2: Assess occupational competence in the work environment

Unit 3: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

A range of topics are covered within the three units including the role of an assessor, legislation relating to assessing, types and methods of assessment, holistic assessment and planning assessments, quality assurance and standardisation, giving feedback, equality and diversity, reflective practice, and CPD.

Qualification Assessment Activities
The qualification is assessed through the completion of written assessments, expert witness testimony/observation and evidenced produced during your practice as an assessor.

Qualification Requirements
You must have access to work with two learners who you can assess. You will use a range of assessment methods with both learners such as observations, professional discussions, work product, written assignments, tests and written questions. All of which will assess both their competence in the work environment and their vocational achievement.

You must be observed by an Expert Witness undertaking assessments with your learners. Your Expert Witness can be your line manager or a colleague who is qualified assessor. They must be able to confirm that they hold a relevant qualification in assessing (D32/D33, A1 Award, CAVA/ TAQA).

Entry Requirements
You must:

– Have reading and writing skills adequate to meet the requirements of the qualification and be able to complete the written assessments to a good standard.

– Have access to assess two learners

– Work with a  colleague who can act in the capacity of an Expert Witness for you.
